The art of calligraphy is a pleasant and calming way to fill in a few hours. It is an art that gives it rewards through patience.
All scripts have a different cadence when writing. Italian Cursive is a mellow, relaxing flow to it, whereas Blackletter, or Gothic is very much a staccato, heavy, stop-start feel.

A few examples below from my practice sheets.

A couple of examples of a Copperplate style writing. This script uses a tricky little pen with an 'elbow' in it to achieve the severe slant. Very classical.

Blackletter, used when vellum or paper was in short supply. Calligraphers were able to fit a lot of text on the page.

Italic chancery cursive would be one of the most used and beautiful of the calligraphic hands.

A variation of roundhand/uncial. More an experiment than anything. However I do like the results and will look to develop this hand further.

Calligraphy, it's all about practice...

Examples of wedding invitations.

A few certificates done over the years
